The 4-day event commenced with a recollection at St. Basil's Church and a pilgrimage to Marmora , Ontario on August 16, 2007. The spiritual formation was followed by a 2-day conference held at the Toronto Metro Hall which saw the formation of the “G.A.S.-U.P” Movement --- the acronym for “Grateful Alumna Syndrome, United and Proud”. The conference also reported on the success of the two CHS Gawad Kalinga (GK) villages where a total of US$90,000 had been raised.
Capping the event was the gala night dinner-dance at the Royal York Hotel where an overflow crowd danced the night away to the music of the Full House Band, reminisced old school days, compared parenting/grand-parenting notes, shared ailments/health strategies, and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner. A surprise table of sweets surrounding a huge CHSNAF cake was served at midnight, extending the fun until 2 a.m.
The last day was spent on a trip to Niagara Falls with a cruise aboard the “Maid of the Mist”.
Remarked Lina Umali, the President of the Texas/SW USA Chapter: “I've been to all the previous reunions and I can say that this is by far the best! Toronto , we salute you!”.
